Cycling
is a great way to explore British Columbia. The leisurely
pace allows riders to enjoy the picturesque scenery and
wildlife that would be missed at high speeds.
Leisurely rides through quiet forests, rural landscapes
and deserted backroads provide a glorious mix of fitness
and solitude.
Some of the more popular cycling areas include the Gulf
Islands, the Kootenays and the BC Rockies, which provide
perfect destinations for cyclists seeking adventure.
Every year, thousands of cyclists trek to the Gulf Islands,
located between Vancouver Island and the BC mainland,
in search of secluded country roads and scenic off-road
trails taking you on a tour of natural beauty, leading
you to hilltops for fabulous views and down to the beach
for an afternoon swim.

The Kootenays provides excellent cycling, surrounded by
dense forest, with trip highlights including hot springs,
ghost towns, lakes, mountains and orchards.
The Golden Triangle in the BC Rockies is probably
one of the most glorious and strenuous cycle circuits
in Canada. This route follows the Rocky Mountain Trench
between Golden and Radium Hot Springs, and crosses the
Rockies and the Continental Divide.
There is no finer scenery anywhere, wildlife is much in
evidence, and be prepared for sore necks from constantly
gazing up at mountains, sheer rock walls, elegantly shaped
hoodoos, waterfalls and hanging glaciers on the limestone
flanks of peaks. 'Awe and wonder,' expresses the exhilaration
that most visitors will experience during a visit to the
parks. Enjoy! |
